One day my daughter Natalie came to me with colored, sparkling lip balm all over her face that she had been given as a birthday gift. When I looked at the product packaging and read the label on the back, I could not believe the list -- some indecipherable -- including dyes, preservatives, phylates and petroleum-based products. I had no idea that what I was letting my kids use was essentially no better than letting them drink from the gas pump!
Almost all commercially-made lip treatments contain gasoline by-products as well as lead. Product containing petrolatums, mineral oil, or paraffin wax are virtually the same as rubbing gasoline production leftovers on your body. I have always been neurotic about what my children put IN their mouths but was somewhat negligent regarding what they put on their lips. I quickly took the lip balm away and threw it in the rubbish, causing Natalie to have an Oscar-worthy tantrum. So, I searched online in an attempt to find a natural, non-carcinogenic replacement. Unfortunately, I learned that such a product made for children did not exist. So, I began researching natural and organic ingredients and decided to try making one myself… And, that is how Nattie’s Naturals was born.
A portion of all profits will be donated to the Beauty Bus Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for home-bound, terminally or chronically ill patients.
